| Saint Raphael Parish Religious Education Policies and Expectations Saint Raphael Parish provides Religious Education for those in Grade 1 through 8 along with Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation preparation. Recognizing that parents/guardians are the first teachers for their children, we strive to enhance their Religious Education through a formal program of learning and preparation for the reception of the sacraments. Absence If a child is to be absent from class the parent/guardian is to call the Religious Education Office(781-483-1139) and leave a message regarding the absence. It is the responsibility of the student to find out what the assignment for the following week is and complete it in order to be prepared for the next class. Class Cancelation Class Cancellation: Cancellation of class for grades 1-8 and/or any special classes or events will be posted on the web-site and on our answering machine PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE RECTORY. Dismissal Dismissal: Students leave the building as a class with their teacher. Please be on time to pick up your child. Although no student is intentionally left unattended at dismissal, it is not the responsibility of the teacher to "babysit" a child until he/she is picked up. PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE INTO THE SCHOOL OR RECTORY YARD AT DISMISSAL TIME. Only those who are attending the 11:30 A.M. Mass are to use the parking lots. There is a severe safety issue with cars driving in, blocking traffic and turning around to leave via the entrance. PLEASE for the safety of ALL park on High St., Tyler Ave., or Boston Ave. and walk over to meet your child. Early Dismissal If it is necessary to have a child dismissed early from a class, the parent/guardian is to notify the teacher in writing of this request. The designated person who is picking up the child, is to come to Our Lady's Hall. The child will be brought down to Our Lady's Hall and dismissed from there. Entrance Doors Students in grades 3 - 8 enter through Our Lady' Hall. Students in grades 1 and 2 enter through the main school entrance For the safety of the children, all school doors are kept locked. If for any reason you may need to enter the building please do so through Our Lady's Hall where someone is available to assist you. Please do not ring the bell, it is disruptive to the classes and teachers have been instructed not to open the door. Homework All students will receive homework at some time. This may vary from only having to learn a prayer or read a chapter to special assignments/reports for the older students. Due to the limited amount of time the students are in class, it is important they complete the assignments in order to be prepared for the next class. Homework is never meant to place added stress on a child but merely to assist them in the process of learning. |
